Armed security
Armed coverage starts with the assignment: the people or property being protected, the environment and the duties involved. GISS reviews the scope before confirming staffing. Ask about the qualifications and licensing applicable to your location; an inquiry is not a confirmation of availability.
Unarmed security
Unarmed officers can provide a visible presence, manage visitor access, patrol agreed areas and report incidents. Clear post orders establish who may enter, what officers should check and when a supervisor or emergency service should be contacted.
Coverage for institutions
Banks, healthcare facilities and schools each have different visitor, staff and operating requirements. Start with the areas needing coverage, peak arrival times, restricted spaces and the site’s existing procedures. The written scope should define responsibilities and escalation contacts before officers arrive.
Choose coverage around the job
Describe the location, dates, operating hours and your main concerns. Explain whether you need a fixed post, patrols, visitor assistance or protection for a person. The right number of officers depends on simultaneous duties, entrances, the environment and shift coverage—not a universal ratio.
Plan overnight coverage
Identify access points, deliveries, areas to check and the handover between shifts. Agree on patrol duties, incident reporting and who can respond after hours. Keep detailed access instructions out of the public inquiry form; share them through an agreed channel once the scope is established.
What to ask before hiring
Ask what is included in the post orders, how supervision and incident reporting work, what qualifications apply and how schedule changes are handled. GISS confirms scope, pricing and the applicable non-negotiable shift minimum in writing. Coverage is not booked until confirmed.

Public safety agencies serve the wider community. A private security assignment is arranged for a client’s people, property or activity, with specific duties and reporting contacts. The two can coordinate, but a private coverage plan does not replace emergency services.
